SALT PREPARATION PLANT

SALT PREPARATION PLANT

Plant for the production of saline solutions

This is a plant to produce salt solution which consists of two tanks: one being a water storage tank with an automatic cooling system and another tank for the dissolving the salt with a mixer in the tank itself. The valves for managing the loading, unloading and reassembly flows are butterfly valves with a pneumatic actuator and head fitted with solenoid valves and a position sensor.

The plant is fully automated with temperature sensors, level sensors and litre counters with phase management controlled via. touch screen on the electrical panel. The system consists of two tanks resting on adjustable feet, meaning it can be adjusted to whatever height is best for the plant. It also has a Triblender Mix/Dissolver and a skid on which the plate heat exchanger, pumps, valves, instruments and connections between the two tanks and the mixer are located. Once the four elements are in place, assembly is quick and easy thanks to the clear indications of the connections.

The water-cooling system has a Kelvion Heat Exchanger with ND Series double safety plants. These two elements ensure that there is no contact between the two liquids occurs and the rupture is visible. The system also has a circulation pump on the glycol water side that creates a loop that keeps the flow rate in the exchanger high. In this loop, a modulating valve introduced the quantity of glycol water needed to have a loop temperature such that the water in the tank is cooled to a set value, which in this case is +1 °C.

Main plant stages

    • Load water into tank S1 in the set quantity, then the pneumatic valve opens to the level read by the pressure probe.
    • Tank cooling S1: pump start-up in rebuild through the cooling system until the set temperature is reached.
    • Discharge from tank S1 to tank S2 of the set quantity: start pump, open transfer valve until the litres read by flowmeter 1 is are reached.
    • Dissolving salt in tank S2: starting mixer/blender pump, opening of replacement valve.
    • S2 tank cooling with only temperature indication manual operator control.
    • Only tank weight indication S2
    • Discharge from tank S2 to the churn of the set quantity: start of mixer/blender pump, opening of transfer valve, until the litres read by flowmeter 2 are reached.
    • Operator-controlled washing of the two tanks via pneumatic ball valves.
